*Burn es un trabajo realizado después de la salida de dos integrantes muy importantes Ian Gillan y Roger Glover, el disco demuestra una gran potencia de Hard Rock, y tiene un parentesco al Inm Rock, es decir, con los mismos orígenes, pero no con los mismos integrantes, sustituyéndolos así David Coverdale en el vocal y Glenn Hughes en el bajo, con estas incorporaciones, el sonido de la banda evolucionó hacia el boogie, incorporando elementos del funk y el soul que se harían más patentes en el siguiente disco, Stormbringer. Fue uno de los primeros álbumes de la historia en ser anunciado por televisión.
