Judas Priest es un grupo británico de Heavy Metal formado en Birminghham, igual que Black Sabbath, pero en 1969, buscando su sonido propio después de haber sido influenciados por bandas de Rock Psicodélico, Rock Progresivo y Hard Rock como “Led Zeppelin”. “Deep Purple”, “Black Sabbath”, “Queen”, “Cream”, “Jimi Hendrix”, “Joan Baez”, hasta que como dije encontraron su sonido propio que es el pionero e inventor del Heavy Metal, además ellos iniciaron la NWOBHM, también son considerados los creadores de una característica indumentaria del Heavy Metal, como el cuero, las tachas, y demás accesorios vinculados con éste tipo de vestimenta que identifica a todos los rockeros y metaleros, todo atráves de Rob Halford, quien también en cada uno de sus conciertos llega al escenario con una “Harley Davidson”, influenciando así a sus compañeros de banda y demás bandas de éste género a utilizar ese vestimenta, desde sus inicios Judas tuvo mucho éxito, es una banda que perfeccionó al máximo lo que bandas antiguas buscaban, el nombre de la banda viene derivada de una canción de Bob Dylan titulada “The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest”, tuvo muchos miembros antiguos, a partir de otras bandas, pero cuando realmente Judas comienza a trabajar de manera maravillosa es cuando consiguen a Halford, pero la primera alineación con Al Atkins de vocal realiza un Cassette que sólo incluía dos temas “We’ll Stay Together” y “Good Time Woman”, es cuando Judas empieza a tener popularidad en las disqueras y representantes.

*Viene un momento impactante para Judas Priest, en 1993, Rob Halford, por ver que la relación de Amistad de los integrantes se estaba acabando y por querer cambiar el estilo a un Heavy Metal Alternativo, decide abandoner la banda y seguir como solista, mientras que Scott Travis estaba confuse, Halford se lo llevó a su banda, pero al igual no tuvo problemas, hablando con los integrantes de Judas, el comentó que tal vez éste era el fin de la legendaria banda de Judas Priest, pero claro que no ocurrió dicha adversidad, platicaron, y Scott Travis se quedó en Judas Priest, buscando un element como vocalista, el cual fue Tim “Ripper” Owens.

*Rocka Rolla, esl primer trabajo de Judas Priest con Rob Halford y Glen Tipton, después de la salida del vocalista Al Atkins, el disco tiene una excelente combinación de sonidos, aunque aún no era ese Heavy Metal que crearon, sino un Blues con Hard Rock, pero, desde aquí Judas comenzó a demostrar su gran capacidad musical, hay rumores de que la marca refresquera “Coca Cola” demandó a la banda por el nombre del disco y por la portada que éste tenía, por lo que años después la banda decide cambiar esa portada.

Sad Wings Of Destiny * 1976

*Su siguiente trabajo “Sad Wings Of Destiny”, un álbum totalmente original, y donde adoptaron al Heavy Metal tal cual debe ser, de éste disco se extrae un tema extraordinario del cual muchas bandas se basaron “The Ripper”, pero para mí el mejor tema de éste álbum es “Victim Of Changes”, de éste álbum podría decirse que es el mejor.

*Sin After Sin es el tercer disco de estudio de Judas, y junto a “Sad Wings…” y “Stained Class”, son los mejores disco de Judas, ese Heavy Metal que demuestran en ambos discos es extraordinario, en éste álbum Judas le hace un cover a la cantante “Joan Baez”, que es “Diamonds And Rust”, un tema muy bonito, en el cual se nota la gran calidad que Judas puede lograr.

*Stained Class es el álbum más maduro de Judas, en el que por fin le dieron esa forma al Heavy Metal, es decir, lo perfeccionaron, y es como se descubre el Heavy Metal, ya que los antecesores de Priest como Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep, utilizaban complementos de Hard Rock, el disco es impresionante, el tema “Exciter”, fue un éxito comercial bastante grande.

*Titulado Killing Machine en Inglaterra, pero en Estados Unidos de América se le cambió el nombre por “Hell Bent For Leather”, ya que hubo polémica por el nombre del álbum, se decía que era muy llamativo y era muy violento, el disco fue sensacional, fue exitoso, el disco demostraba más bien un Hard Rock, y contenía un tema tipo balada “Before The Dawn”, pero lo que en realidad le dio éxito a éste disco fue la canción Pop Metal “Evening Star”, y la excepcional canción roquera “Rock Forever”.

Unleashed In The East * 1979

* Este es un disco grabado en vivo en 1979, es extraordinario, todas las canciones exitosas hasta ese año, as tocan, Pese a que el disco es una muestra del poderío de los directos de heavy metal, los fans se dieron cuenta que había sido editado en estudio, bautizándolo como Unleashed in the Studio. Según declaraciones de los propios miembros de la banda, la actuación de Rob Halford en ese concierto fue muy inferior a la habitual a causa de una afección en la garganta, por lo que las partes vocales del álbum fueron regrabadas en un estudio londinense y añadidas al resto de la actuación, que sí aparece en el disco tal y como sucedió en directo. En la portada del disco, que muestra a los miembros de la banda en el escenario, la figura del batería Les Binks fue oscurecida en las fotografías, ya que abandonó el grupo antes del lanzamiento del disco. Dejando de lado esto, el disco ofrece a Glenn Tipton, K.K. Downing, Ian Hill y un pletórico Rob Halford en uno de los mejores momentos de su carrera.

*Al fin llegaría British Steel, un disco que no es mucho, pero la valoración que le dieron fue increíble, es el disco más comercial de Judas Priest, es el disco que les dio todo el éxito posible, contribuyendo así al Metal de los 80’s, y a las bandas de esa época, además desde aquí se les atribuye no sólo por la canción sino por el alto legado que ha dejado la banda ser denoiminados pos sus fans “Metal Gods”.

*Este disco fue otro gran éxito comercial total, los temas “Electric Eye” y el mismísimo “Screaming For Vengeance” dieron otro toque al Heavy Metal de esas épocas, y el éxito fue mundial, de hecho éste disco se encuentra entre los disco más comerciales de Judas Priest, pues ya que es de los más vendidos, y sobre todo en Estados Unidos de América, es decir, que lo que querían conseguir con el “Point Of Entry” lo consiguieron aquí, el álbum recibió premios.

"Desde una tierra desconocida y por medio de los cielos lejanos llegó a un guerrero con alas. No quedaba nada sagrado, nadie estaba a salvo de la Hellion, ya que lanzó su grito de batalla ... Grito de venganza".

Defenders Of The Faith * 1984

*El álbum fue grabado en 1983 pero lanzado a la venta en 1984, este álbum continuó con la fórmula que hizo a "Screaming For Vengeance" tan popular, pero introduciendo elementos nuevos, como sintetizadores, incluso con temas más largos finalmente recortados, como "Freewheel Burning" el cual contaba con una intro sintetizada. Es considerado por los fans como uno de los mejores discos de la banda.

*Turbo es un disco, que sólo por comercialidad Judas se dejó rebajar a tocar un estilo cercano al que estaba de moda en los 80’s, que era el Pop y el Glam Metal, la combinación de dichos géneros tuvo como resultado Techno Metal, el disco fue criticado por los fans que los tildaron de traidores, ya que los álbumes anteriores a éste, eran totalmente metaleros, el disco iba a tener el nombre de “Twin Turbos”, pero no acabaron el álbum como tenían planeado, por lo que quedó grabado como “Turbo”, poco a poco el disco se coinvirtió en un álbum histórico de Judas Priest, por toda la historia que tuvo.

Ram It Down * 1988

*En 1986, Judas Priest tenía la intención de editar un doble álbum llamado Twin Turbos. Debido a que la compañía no estaba de acuerdo con un doble álbum, el proyecto se redujo en un solo álbum: Turbo (álbum). Parte del material no editado para Turbo, fue regrabado para Ram It Down.

El álbum se desmarcaba de su anterior trabajo, Turbo, con un sonido más duro y daba pie a la evolución que tendrían con el siguiente album de la banda: Painkiller.
En el álbum se incluye el único single, la versión de Chuck Berry "Johnny Be Goode", tema principal de la película que llevaba el mismo título.
Este sería el último álbum del batería Dave Holland y el productor Tom Allom.
*Eng - In 1986, Judas Priest had intended to edit a double album called Twin Turbos. Because the company did not agree with a double album, the project was reduced in a single album: Turbo (album). Part of unreleased material for Turbo, was re-recorded for Ram It Down.
The album is distancing itself from his previous work, Turbo, with a harder sound and gave rise to developments which would have with the band's next album: Painkiller.

Painkiller * 1990

*Painkiller es otro de los discos más comerciales y sobre todo pesados de Judas Priest, el nombre del disco se deriva del suceso que tuvo Rob Halford en su intento de suicidarse con drogas hasta quedar inconsciente, de ahí se atribuye el nombre, la canción “Painkiller” es un himno para algunos fans de Judas, para aquellos que aman el Trash Metal y el Speed Metal, este es un disco para ustedes.

El Painkiller (el Analgésico, literalmente el Mata-dolor) es un individuo de la serie de mesías ficticios creados por Judas Priest. El Painkiller es descrito como una mesías del metal enviado al mundo a purgarlo de aquellos que no son honestamente adeptos a la causa metal. El Painkiller fue probablemente inspirado por el ángel caído de la portada de Sad Wings of Destiny, álbum grabado por Judas Priest en sus primeros años musicales, aunque realmente el nombre se debe al intento de suicidio de Rob Halford en el periodo de grabación del álbum Turbo, en la que Rob Halford trató de suicidarse tomando una alta dosis de analgésicos (Painkillers en inglés).
La característica más notable del Painkiller, aparte de su cuerpo metálico, es que monta una motocicleta con un dragón por chasis y dos sierras circulares a manera de ruedas.

The Painkiller (the Analgesic, literally Mata-pain) is an individual series of fictional messiahs created by Judas Priest. The Painkiller is described as a metal messiah sent to purge the world of those who are not adherents to the cause honestly metal. The Painkiller was probably inspired by the fallen angel on the cover of Sad Wings of Destiny, an album recorded by Judas Priest in his early music, but really the name because of the attempted suicide of Rob Halford in the period of recording the album Turbo , in which Rob Halford tried to commit suicide by taking high doses of analgesics (painkillers in English).
The most striking feature of the Painkiller, aside from its metal body is riding a motorcycle with a dragon for chassis and two circular saws by way of wheels.
