*Deep Purple es una banda de Rock Inglesa formada Hertfordshire en 1968, y es una de las bandas pioneras del Heavy Metal, junta a “UFO”, “Led Zeppelin”, “Black Sabbath”, y “Uriah Heep”, además es una de las bandas más importantes de la historia del Rock, ya que en sus momentos comenzaron a realizar una revolución que influyó a bandas como el mismísimo “Black Sabbath”, en realidad el estilo de Purple era Hard Rock con tintes progresivos, igual que Sabbath, solo que Sabbath era más duro, Deep Purple fue más reconocido cuando llegó la entrada de Ian Gillan, un vocalista de extremada técnica, Rod Evans también era muy bueno pero en realidad aPurple le llegó el éxito con Gillan, además en 1970, Gillan fue seleccionado el más gritón de esa época, supernado así a Plant de Zeppelin y a Ozzy de Sabbath, todos los integrantes de Deep Purple fueron y sin virtuosos, a mí me impresionó ver a Jon Lord (Teclados), su forma de tocar, es como si fuera una guitarra en forma de teclado, como requintos de guitarra pero en el teclado, el primer éxito que tuvieron fue “Hush” con el vocalista Rod Evans, a la entrada de Gillan en 1970 la banda pasó de ser Rock/Pop con tintes progresivos, a ser pioneros del Heavy Metal, esto quiere decir que Gillan hizo una gran diferencia, el estilo de Purple se identificó por el alto sonido de los teclados y el estilo clásico de Blackmore, en la actualidad Deep Purple es considerado entre los 10 mejoires grupos de Rock de todos los tiempos, con tanta revolución al Rock como no iban a estar, influenciando a bandas de la talla de “Iron Maiden”, “Judas Priest”, “Black Sabbath”, “UFO”, “Aerosmith”, “Sanctus”, y muchas más, el nombre de la banda viene de una antigua canción de la banda que a la abuelita de Blackmore le gustó mucho y se lo comentó a Blackmore, entonces éste fue con la banda y decidieron ponerle ese nombre al grupo.

*Machine Head es quizá el disco más importante de Deep Purple, las cuestiones fueron el éxito mundial que dió, los aportes al Heavy Metal, y las influencias que ha dado a bandas modernas, el disco tiene el clásico tema de Rock “Smoke On The Water”, compuesta por Blackmore en un hotel de Montreux, cuando en ese mismo día se encontraba el artista inigualable Frank Zappa, quien en su estudio tuvo problemas con el equipamiento y comenzó a incendiarse, mientras Blackmore se asomaba y veía humo en el lago, ya que el estudio de Zappa estaba al lado de un lago, la canción logró tener un éxito exagerado, logrando ventas en todo el mundo y llegar a ser reconocida como una de las canciones con mejores riffs de toda la historia, el Riff tiene parentesco a los de Tony Iommi de Black Sabbath, Machine Head es un disco excelente, mi cancióen favorita se encuentra aquí y es “Highway Star”, podría decir que éstos eran los momentos de gloria de Purple.

Aunque el single "Woman from Tokyo" fue un éxito importante, el grupo no consiguió alcanzar las cotas de calidad que habían tocado en sus discos anteriores a causa de las continuas discusiones en su seno, que acabarían con la marcha de Gillan y Glover. *Es el Segundo trabajo de la banda sin Gillan ni Glover, en este álbum, el alma y los elementos de funk que sólo se había insinuado en “Burn” son mucho más prominentes.

*La salida de Blackmore dejó un hueco totalmente, la banda podia destrozarse, pero llega el virtuoso guitarrista Tommy Bolin, quien demuestra una gran capacidad, pero desafortunadamente fallece por una sobredosis de heroína en 1976, solo pudieron grabar este disco, entonces es cuando la banda se separa totalmente, cada quien por su lado, pero el recuerdo que dejó Bolin fue muy bueno, pero el disco fue un trabajo mucho más comercial que los discos anteriores, todo debido a la influencia que dejó Glenn Hughes en la banda, lo malo es que es considerado de los discos más malos de Purple, aunque yo creo que Purple solo hace arte, nada es malo, pero en comparación a su categoría, el disco se consideró así.

*Después de la separación de la banda durante 8 años, deciden reunirse con la formación que dio triunfo, hasta el mismísimo Blackmore aceptó, a pesar de que estaba en su proyecto “Rainbow”, y Ian Gillan que se encontraba en “Black Sabbath” en aquel entonces, se despidió de Sabbath amistosamente para volver a Deep Purple, y realizan esta gran obra, que por el regreso de la banda dio una considerable calidad de Rock, el disco es muy bueno, y se escucha algo particular al disco “Fireball”, un Hard Rock con tintes progresivos, la portada del disco no fue como solían ser anteriormente, es decir, con mucha imaginación.
